Day 40

Hope in the palm

What do you think of when you hear the word grace?  To me grace is the act of loving without judgement or expectation; it is allowing another person to be who they are regardless of who I think they should and should not be.  A person can give grace to another human being and they can receive grace from another human being.  When I think of giving and receiving grace, I think of giving and receiving unconditional love, acceptance and forgiveness. Grace is not earned or deserved, it just is.

Imagine how life would be different if we lived this way; loving everyone around us unconditionally, regardless of who they are and what they’ve done. Imagine if we lived this way with ourselves.

In order to give and receive grace, we must be able to let go of the expectations we hold in ourselves and others and practice accepting life as being exactly how it is in the present moment. We must learn to see ourselves and others through spiritual eyes rather our own.

For Today

Take a moment to reflect on what is holding you back from being able to give and receive grace in your life. Is it the expectations you have of yourself and others? Is it the act of accepting people and letting go of those expectations and beliefs? Prayerfully reflect today asking God to reveal truth to you with regard to your ability to give and receive grace. Having awareness is the first step in being able to overcome our struggles. Practice self-compassion by allowing truth to come to light without shame or judgement; therefore practicing grace with ourselves.

Peace and blessings,
Katie
